• Description

  The red-breasted nuthatch has a long pointed bill and a distinct orangish belly and breast. These birds also have a dark cap on the top of their heads - black in males and grey in females.

  Conifers or Softwoods, Forest Debris, Forest Edges, Forest Openings, Mixed Woods, Moist Woodlands

• Interesting Fact

  These birds use their strong legs and feet to walk up and down the sides of trees in search of food hidden under the bark.
