    The Northern Moon Snail and its egg case (sand collar) are commonly found wash up on beaches. This large snail is capable of retracting its large muscular foot completely inside its shell. They can grow up to 10 cm.

    Their eggs are laid into a collar made of sand wrapped by the parent. These snail are carnivores. They eat other mollusks by boring a hole into the prey’s shell and then suck out the soft tissue inside.
