• Description

  North America’s largest heron is unmistakable by its two-meter wingspread, gray-blue body, dagger-like bill, long legs and long neck which folds back in flight. Herons winter in Florida and Cuba.

  These birds feed mostly on fish but will also eat frogs, snakes, insects and very small mammals such as mice and voles.
