  The Black Scoter is a sea duck that migrates along New Brunswick’s coasts in the spring and fall. The brilliant yellow knob on the male’s bill and pale gray cheeks on the female are distinguishing features.

• Interesting Fact

  The male’s far-carrying, melodious calls probably serve to keep the flocks together as they cover great distances on their night flights. During the day they usually rest on bays and large lakes.
